2010 Surveying Instructions

Below you will find links to the guidelines for surveying in 2010.
They are divided into two sections:

Schools Using the Paper Format

Schools are shipped their survey materials via FedEx about 30 days before the survey date they chose. Survey materials include:

  • Survey forms for participating grade-levels in the amount requested on registration/confirmation forms
  • Pencils
  • Classroom Participation Envelopes
  • A large envelope labeled "School Instructions"

The School Instructions Envelope includes:

One Classroom Participation Envelope containing the "2010 Teacher Guidelines" is needed for each classroom that surveys at each period. The teacher or person administering the survey must complete the form printed on the front of the envelope and enclose all surveys completed during that period.

You can use any of the above links to view and/or print these documents.

Schools Using the Online Survey

Proctor training sessions are held online 2 weeks before and throughout the surveying period for newly registered schools. This training walks proctors through the process of setting up their computers for surveying and other administration guidelines. Each attendee is given the opportunity to practice preparing a computer for surveying.

Schools are sent their proctor login and password by email approximately 1 week before the survey period begins (January 25th) or within a week of registering their school, regardless of their intended survey date. Included in the email are also:

Once the school has completed surveying, they should contact Jessica Thomas by email to jcthomas@chestnut.org or by phone at 309-451-7849. An administrative ID and password will then be sent to the school contact person in order to access results, along with the Administrative User Guide. Beginning in March, a group of online administrative training sessions will be conducted to assist schools that have completed surveying to access their results.
